Ms. Rachel M., LCSW, ASDCS
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist
Westmont Location
As a child, Ms. Rachel faced challenges that led her to seek counseling, and she is deeply grateful to the amazing individuals who supported her during that time. Their guidance inspired her to pursue a career in helping others, with the goal of being the person that young Rachel needed.
Growing up with a younger sister who has an Intellectual Disability has given her a unique perspective on the joys and challenges that families with individuals who have special needs face. This experience fuels her passion to be a safe and supportive space for these families and to empower children to live life to the fullest.
One of Rachel's favorite parts of her job is the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of the kids she works with. Every day, she learns something new from them, and she's constantly inspired by their resilience, creativity, and determination.
She expands her knowledge and skill set through continuing education courses on Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and specialized courses for working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Rachel earned her Bachelor’s in Film from the University of Iowa and her Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University.
Outside of work, she enjoys cuddling with her dog, Luna, playing Barbies with her two nieces, traveling with friends, playing video games, and crafting.
Rachel’s favorite quote is “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”- Albus Dumbledore
