Our mission is to partner with you. Your trust in us as your child's developmental team is something we take very seriously.

To my fellow parents,
There is quite possibly no deeper connection that is made between two human beings than when an infant cries his first cry and is comforted by the arms of his mother or father. These very first signs of communication occur when an infant learns that a cry will bring food, comfort, and companionship. These are powerful times of early communication in our children’s lives and they set the foundation for a lifetime of emotional and physical growth.
Before children even utter their first word, they communicate quite effectively with us through their eye-contact and mutual engagement. Like when the fork falls off the highchair and your daughter looks down at the floor, then back up to you. No words are spoken, but yet, you clearly understand what she is saying, "Hey Mom! My fork fell down! Can you get it for me?"
No parent ever wants to hear the words “your child is delayed”. We can help you. Since 1994, I have earned the trust of families within Hinsdale and the surrounding suburbs by helping and empowering their children with communication and feeding delays. I have helped children who have Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, cleft lip/palate, apraxia of speech and many other developmental delays. I am a strong believer in the power of self-confidence and I think one of the greatest dangers is either to expect too little or too much from our children.
After recognizing the need to provide a more comprehensive approach to help our children, I expanded my practice to include pediatric occupational therapy and pediatric counseling. I have very selectively hand-picked my therapists through the years as I realize that my team is a reflection of the quality of services I would expect for my own children. All of our pediatric therapists hold either a Master or Doctorate degree in their area of specialty. Our OT's do a phenomenal job of identifying areas of difficulty in children that can affect their communication, feeding, social and overall developmental skills. These areas include but are not limited to visual perceptual skills, fine motor skills, gross motor development as well as sensory processing. We realize that raising a child who has various difficulties can be challenging and can affect various social relationships and so we also provide pediatric counseling. These sessions may be parent only, parent and child, child only or small social emotional groups. We tailor our approach to the individual needs of each child and their family.
We have a bright and cheerful Child Enrichment Center conveniently located in downtown Hinsdale above Steinway Piano (some days we are lucky and get to hear beautiful music :). We also offer home based visits as well. It is not uncommon for us to go see your child in various settings to see how they are doing, because the better we know a child, the better able we are to help them. So expect us to ask if we can go to their daycare or preschool as well as maybe catch a baseball or soccer game! We also accompany you to your child's IEP meeting and act as a liason between you and your school. Our mission is to partner with you. Your trust in us as your child's developmental team is something we take very seriously. Our goal is to treat the whole child and not just one aspect, because as we all know, learning is multi-dimensional.
I realize that the one or two sessions a week that we spend with your child is not what is going to make the difference in their lives. This is one reason why I am such a strong believer in parents being present at our sessions, whether they are home or center based. Part of our role is to empower you, the parent, and show that merely changing the way we talk and interact with our children can make a huge difference in their life's skills.
If you are concerned about your child’s speech / language, feeding or developmental skills, you may find the developmental milestones chart helpful. Then, talk to your pediatrician, or contact Christina with any questions or to set-up a free screening.
Our dedicated team of pediatric therapists will provide you and your family with the clinical expertise that you should expect. Our nurturing relationships that we share with all our kiddos and their families creates cause for celebration, for both you and us, over every triumph your son or daughter experiences. We look forward to meeting you and your child and getting them on their way :)
Smiles,
Christina
