About Hummingbird's Aquatic Therapy Program

What is Aquatic Therapy?
Hummingbird's Aquatic Therapy program is physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and/or counseling, but in the water. Kids can receive multidisciplinary therapies in one session! Kids work toward the same goals as in the clinic but while playing and having fun in the water.

Aquatic Therapy can help build strength, range of motion, confidence, and so much more.

Hummingbird's Aquatic Therapy team is made up of speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and counselors. We work together to reach the targeted developmental milestones outlined for every child.

What are the benefits of Aquatic Therapy?
Our Aquatic Therapy program helps kids
  • Generalize the skills they learn in settings outside of the clinic
  • Build their strength and endurance
  • Increase their breath control and respiration
  • Increase their self confidence
  • Try more complex motor skills
Additionally, the water provides deep pressure sensory input to any part of the child's body that is submerged.

What ages can participate in Aquatic Therapy?
Our Aquatic Therapy program is for infants and older. Spots are limited, so call or email us to learn more!

When and where does Aquatic Therapy take place?
We currently offer co-treatments of physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling utilizing the pool as a treatment tool at Superior Training in Willowbrook. These sessions are 45 minutes long for speech therapy and 1 hour for occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling. However, after school sessions are 45 minutes long for every discipline. The sessions run as follows: January-May, May-August, and September-January.
