Christina Scalise-Morrissey, MS., CCC--SLP
Founder & Director
Pediatric Speech/Language Pathologist & Feeding Therapist

Empowering children to be the very best they can be is what drives Christina.  Christina opened her private practice in 1997 after serving as the Creator and Department Head of Pediatric Therapy Services at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. For nearly 20 years, she has earned the trust of families in Hinsdale and the surrounding communities and has loved every minute of it!  She has very selectively hand-picked her team of pediatric therapists realizing that her team is a reflection of the quality of services she would expect for her own children.

Christina is a pediatric speech-language pathologist and feeding therapist who works with children who have difficulty with articulation/phonology, auditory processing, expressive language disorders and cognitive delays. These delays may be developmental in nature or may stem from apraxia, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, pervasive developmental disorders, and prematurity.  Auditory processing is a particular area of interest to Christina as she feels that these skills drive learning across all developmental areas.

She earned her Bachelors  in Communicative Disorders at Northern Illinois University and her MS in Speech Pathology at St. Xavier University. She implements a child-directed, affect based approach which lends itself to very loving and nurturing sessions. The child’s goals are targeted within play scenarios which encourages a child’s willingness to participate without feeling like they are in “therapy”. Parents are involved in all of the child’s sessions as Christina works to empower the parent on ways to interact with their child that will help them to progress their skills.  In addition, Christina is qualified to see infants and children with sensory-motor feeding disorders and has taken numerous post-graduate seminars in this highly specialized area.   She uses the SOS Feeding Approach as the foundation with her sensory-based feeding kids but frequently will incorporate other aspects of feeding programs based on each individual child's needs.  Furthermore, she serves as a liaison between the family and the school district in obtaining the most appropriate services for your child. Christina and her husband Dave have two daughters. She is very active in her church and school and various charitable organizations. Being a breast cancer survivor, Christina also enjoys her work as a Trustee on the Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare Foundation Board and their cancer center programs.
